Happy Halloween!

Trick or Treat! Today we received a very special trick-or-treater from our Monday gym:

Gustavo set up all the awesome decorations this year. More than one little kid was too scared to come near the house and lots of visitors praised the decorations!
The monster of St. Anthony's was also there:

Supreme Fun Soccer October 27.

Superb game and a super day today, once again. Many thanks to the wonderful people who come week after week to have fun, and appreciate the effort I put in in organizing these activities. It is a lot of work but it's all worth it when people, specially kids, come and play (and leave their couches and TVs, and iPods, and video games behind!).

This was arguably the most fun coach had all year long, in spite of being in severe pain (MRI coming). I - we - had never screamed and run so much. The rain never came (how can they get the weather forecast so wrong?), just a beautiful extremely fine soft mist at times, with gorgeous fall colors all around. Amazing warm temperatures for late in October, great for soccer, with some players in shorts and t-shirts. Off went the jackets after a few minutes.

Two matches were played today, with a plentiful show of goals: 10-4 for the grown-ups with little kids vs Fulminante boys, and then 2-2 mixing players up, 18 goals in total, non-stop action, running, and laughing. Two players scored 5 goals (including the coach :-).

Huge thanks to the players: you are the most dedicated, the most fun, the best. By coming you really show that you appreciate what we do. It is all free, but it's worth a lot, so your presence is much appreciated. The best things in life are free (and simple!).

Thoroughly enjoyable today! :-)

 Stunningly gorgeous colours, spectacular!
Shooting practice.

Justin showing off his great gk skills!
Gorgeous fall colours: green grass, read and yellow trees, warm and misty, amazingly beautiful.

Corker kick!

Soccer Saturday 3:45PM

Soccer is on Saturday rain or shine. Please contact coach for details and to confirm if you have not already done so. /3:45PM, right on the rain gap (what rain??, there is no rain!).

Don't let a little mist deter you, it's just water and you won't melt unless you are made of sugar (and the kids love it).

Location: The Ontario Soccer Association has been helping us with the location BTW, many thanks to them, particularly for this weekend when the weather was so threatening (rain, what rain??). Pls. check confirmation email.

Record Warm October 26

Record warm today, perfect for a long run on shorts and t-shirt. An interesting course today with a different perspective:

(Had only been on that side of the lighthouse for Canada Day's fireworks).

Triple loop on the light house too.

This was followed by a Brazilian picanha barbeque to recover the 710 calories and have energy for soccer.

Running Vs Soccer Timing

The blue line represents the timing, in mins/Km. The left side of the chart is Gustavo's running during the 3K EOXCC race. The right side is coach's running during the soccer game (lower is faster).

In this chart, higher is faster:

EOXC Championships

The Eastern Ontario X-Cty Championships were held today at Mooney's Bay/Terry Fox. 5 of our players participated, representing our team and their schools. They did amazingly well. Both Francois and Peter earned race shirts for finishing in the top 20. The top 4 finished within 21 seconds of each other.
  • Francois 17th (12:56)
  • Peter 20th
  • Gustavo 23rd
  • Dylan 24th
  • Hunter 38th
Great job, on a beautiful day.

 The course:
The course included a trip to the top of the hill at Mooney's Bay. Gustavo was wearing a GPS, so now we now the height: 20m:

Licee Claudel won as a team (top 4 runners). Our team would have finished 2nd if we had been allowed to run as a soccer club (our 5 runners were from 5 different schools). A little celebration followed at Gellateria Italiana in Little Italy.

WC Brazil 2014: Chile Vs Argentina, The $200,000 Flight

For a spot in WC 2014, Chile plays Argentina tonight in Santiago. The match will feature several Barcelona and Real Madrid players.

Both clubs agreed on chartering a flight from Santiago to Spain to bring their players back immediately after the match ends. The 10,000Km trip will take approximately 13 hours to Madrid, continuing on to Barcelona..

Alexis Sánchez, Lionel Messi, Javier Mascherano, Gonzalo Higuaín y Ángel Di María will be on the flight. Let's just hope they don't pick a fight on the field.

It is not the first time Barcelona and Real Madrid have shared the cost of a flight. In 2004, they did the same to bring home Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, and Ronaldinho.

Local fans are wondering how much bullying will Alexis Sanchez have to endure, or whether he has any chance of being the king of the flight.

The private plane will arrive in Spain mid afternoon on Wednesday. Due to this, the players will gain more than half a day. Under normal conditions, commercial flights don't land until midday on Thursdays, which would mean they’d only be able to take part in one training session before Saturday's games. Real Madrid is hosting Celta (18:00) and Barça is playing in La Coruña (22:00).

UPDATE. Final: Argentina 2 x 1  Chile. Chile deserved a better score, but what matters is balls in the net.

Chile scores (match was broadcast live on the Internet):
