Awesome and Wet: Wolfe Trail
Posted in Labels: fitness, Life | Saturday, September 08, 2012
We had a really good hike at 7AM this morning, at Wolfe trail. It was very foggy initially, then almost pitch dark further up the mountain, then a wall of water and lightning came on us, it seemed like Niagara Falls. It was the most fun we have had in a long time.
Elevation gain: 254m(!) (green shade):

Some of the calories were recovered later at the funky Arts is In. The place was packed, and it was awesome.

Caveman Finds His Home
Posted in Labels: Life | Wednesday, August 29, 2012
After 22 years looking for these caves, it took 2 kids to push me to run 7.5Km uphill, through rocks and steep slopes and hundreds of steps, to finally find the Lusk Caves. It was well worth it.
The kids were flying on the way back, it was tough to keep up with them.

Time Lapse Videos

Check out Gustavo's time lapse videos. To do this he replaced the firmware (software) on his Canon camera, putting in an open source version that allows him to fully control the camera, automate the camera with scripts, do motion detection, and quite a few other things. He also made a few mechanical gadgets himself like a smooth camera slider and the camera spinner.
This one, SunRise, was shot in Ottawa and Bangor, Maine:
His latest invention allows for a full 360 degree smooth sutomated turn:

Have a Fever? The Weird Flu
Posted in Labels: Life | Friday, August 03, 2012
I had to take my daughter to the doctor today as she has had 40C fever for 2 days, with no other symptoms. The doctor could not find anything, and says he has seen it a lot lately (people with fever and no other symptoms), it is probably just a virus.
Update Saturday: fever was gone in the morning :-), and came back to 39.5C in the afternoon :-( (!?)

This kid is one of the Brazilian Sunday AM Kanata players. He is a very good soccer player as well, and what an amazing piano player and composer.
